Director of Property Accounting

Department: Atlanta Property MGT
Location: Atlanta, GA

 Summary: The Director of Property Accounting will oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions for a portfolio of properties as well as supervise and mentor a staff of 10 -15 of varying levels within the Property Accounting department.

This individual is expected to have the ability to work independently while logically and strategically taking on accounting issues. Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.B.A.) in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 8 years related professional experience preferred.
  • 5+ years in a supervisor role managing a team.

Requirements:

  • CPA license Required
  • Must be organized, concise, detailed, flexible and efficient
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple properties and multiple clients
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • 5+ years experience in commercial real estate accounting, retail real estate experience preferred
  • Yardi Voyager and MRI experience
  • Advanced Excel
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Year End Recovery experience
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, leadership and presentation skills.

Ability to:

  • Handle multiple high priority projects with a keen attention to detail.
  • Problem solve and analyze data demonstrated by the ability to assimilate new information, understand complex topics and arrive at sound analysis and judgment.

Certificates and Licenses: CPA required

Critical Duties:

  • Review, coordinate and complete the preparation of accurate books and records for third party managed properties within their portfolio.
  • Supervise, mentor and train a team of 10 15 individuals including Property Accountants, Accounting Assistants and Senior Property Accountants.
  • Perform review functions during end of month close.
  • Assist financial operations personnel and other company departments with questions and information requests as needed.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with company and departmental policies and procedures. Evaluate and makes appropriate improvements as needed.
  • Work directly with Senior Property Accounting to allocate and prioritize team job functions and responsibilities. Manage special projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform accounting research on technical matters.
  • Coordinate and complete audit requests as needed.
